Whats on-trend for Spring/Summer '13 maternity wear?
Ooooh, we are delighted to be able to give you a sneak peak as to what's in store for maternity wear this upcoming S/S season. Even though we are still in the midst of winter and snuggled up with our slippers, woollies and drinking hot chocolate, it's refreshing to know that in not too long we'll be donning our summer frocks, shorts and sitting pool (or beach) side in our swimmers and over-sized sunnies. I have to say that I am very excited about the new collections across all our brands for S/S. I always say that each season is better than.. Read More »
How do I choose the right baby / nappy bag?
With so many gorgeous baby bags on the market these days it can be overwhelming trying to find one that is the right size, colour, shape, texture, has adjustable handles for the pram and most of all is reasonably priced and can be used throughout all pregnancies. Of course it’s an added bonus if it doubles as a stylish Yummy Mummy bag when the babes are all grown up! With all the preparation and forward-thinking that comes into play when welcoming a new baby, having a robust and functional nappy bag could well be put at the bottom of the.. Read More »
Maternity Dressing For Winter
Having been pregnant in both summer and winter I would have to say that winter maternity dressing is my fave! Unfortunately I didn't experiment with too many styles during my winter pregnancy but since owning One On The Way and seeing the gorgeous designs that come into our office, if I had my time again I would definitely get more creative. I love all the gorgeous maternity dresses being worn with maternity tights and the cute printed tunics teamed with maternity leggings. The whole concept of layering outfits, adding a bit of colour and rugging up warm excites me. There are no rules when.. Read More »
Exercising During Pregnancy
Many pregnant women wonder if it is safe to exercise during pregnancy - the answer is usually yes, so long as you do so safely, listen to your body and know your limitations. It is also wise to consult your healthcare professional or GP prior to undertaking any fitness regime, especially if you are considered to be a high-risk pregnancy. In the early stages of pregnancy, some women find that exercising is the furthest thing from their mind. They may be ill with morning sickness, have nausea, tiredness and a general feeling of not wanting to maintain their regular exercise regime. Many of.. Read More »
When should I buy maternity clothes?
This is a question I hear quite often from my pregnant friends and customers. However, there really isn't a right or wrong response. In short, my answer is "when you no longer feel comfortable wearing your pre pregnancy clothing". Some women are lucky enough to go their entire pregnancy without having to worry about wearing maternity clothes and if you happen to have a summer pregnancy you'll know that maxi dresses are a God-send! In my first pregnancy I put on quite a bit of weight in the first trimester and found that my zip up work trousers and skirts became uncomfortable (and unflattering!).. Read More »
How To Dress For Work During Pregnancy
This topic is very close to my heart because I personally struggled to find maternity clothes suitable for work. With my first baby, I was pregnant throughout winter and working full time in a corporate environment. I recall standing in my bedroom day after day, staring into my wardrobe wondering what on earth I was going to wear to work. I tried to plan my outfits a week ahead but because my body was changing so rapidly (and I showed very early on) this became an impossible task because something that would fit me one week, wouldn't fit me the next... What Is Maternity Wear Colour Blocking
The words "Colour Block" are HUGE in the fashion world right now. We're seeing it in summer clothes - the bright oranges, purples, blues, emeralds, corals, pinks and yellows and we're also going to see it in the Autumn/Winter '12 maternity wear collections, but in muted tones of taupe, red, white, cream and brown and of course winter's essential hue, black. Apricot is also on the cards and will be teamed back with black. So, what exactly does colour blocking mean, and more importantly, how can you introduce it to your existing maternity wardrobe? Let me explain... Colour blocking essentially means wearing two or more blocks.. Read More »
